Performance of Lithium-Based Grease Filled with Hybrid Paraffin Oil and TiO2 Nanoparticles for Vehicle Applications
Main Article Content
Abstract
In this work, the role of grease lubricating system in various types of vehicles was evaluated to meet specific performance specifications. This paper examines hybrid paraffin oil (PO) and TiO2 nanoparticles dispersed in the lithium grease to explore and evaluate its tribological performance. Influence of hybrid PO and TiO2 nanoparticles additives on the frictional coefficient and wear mechanism was examined. The vibration analysis of bearings lubricated with various loading contents of greases was carried out. Experimental results show that hybrid PO and TiO2 nanoparticles exhibit excellent tribological behaviour and significantly reduce the friction coefficient and weight loss by approximately 33% and 27%, respectively. It is also observed that adding hybrid PO and TiO2 nanoparticles leads to decrease the friction coefficient more than pure lithium grease.
