Comparative Analysis of Tamarind Seed Biodiesel Blends in a Diesel Engine: Performance and Emissions Characteristics
Main Article Content
Abstract
The present investigation is conducted on a single-cylinder diesel engine. The primary objective of this experimental study is to reduce exhaust emissions and enhance performance by employing tamarind seed biodiesel blends. Initially, the engine operates using diesel fuel at various loads. Subsequently, the engine runs on tamarind seed biodiesel blends of B10, B20 and B30. The results obtained demonstrate a higher brake thermal efficiency (BTE) for B20 blend compared to the other samples. The comparative assessment reveals that B20 can be easily utilized without any significant alterations to the engine design. The observed BTE for B20 blend at full load is 26.8%, which surpasses all other tested fuels by approximately 12.22% compared to normal diesel fuel.
