Abstract

This research aims to apply Six Sigma's DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control) methodology to reduce leak rejection in the lead-acid battery manufacturing process. The DMAIC technique has methods for identifying and verifying the causes. The appearance and uniform post-melting of battery terminals were discovered to be highly dependent on the size and composition of the tungsten rod electrode used in inert gas welding. The number of post-leak rejections has significantly decreased when the solution is implemented.
