Abstract

In this study, the sandwich construction utilises various composite skins (glass fiber, Kevlar fiber and carbon fiber) along with a consistent core material (PVC foam). The purpose is to examine the bending strength of the sandwich panels. Six panels were prepared using the vacuum infusion process. Three of them are regular sandwich panels, while the rest are corrugated sandwich panels. The panels were machines according to the ASTM C393 standard and subjected to 3-point bending strength testing using an UTM machine. After analysing the results of various sandwich panels, it was found that the Kevlar panel has demonstrated exceptional bending strength. The carbon corrugated panel has also demonstrated significantly higher bending strength.
