Ergonomic Workspace Design for Wheelchair Users
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article details the ergonomic study of workplace, especially for the wheel chair users. Virtual environment assessment tools are used to study the musculoskeletal burdens for wheelchair users having disabilities in motion. To view and assess the interaction between the wheelchair and the working area, DELMIA V5 software was utilized to electronically construct human individuals with anthropometric parameters. For the comfort of wheelchair users and to lower their risk of developing musculoskeletal diseases (MSD), three different types of ergonomic wheelchair seats have been developed and two modified VDT (virtual display terminal) workstations were provided, and the performance of the modified and commercial VDT workstations were compared.
