Abstract

EDM, employed as one of the methods in processing, involves the utilisation of a series of sparks to erode material from the workpiece, thus achieving the desired form. This method is particularly useful for processing hard metals. The manufacture of EDM electrodes, concluded SLS, as a distinct method from conservative dispensation techniques, has been facilitated by the work done by several researchers. Investigational investigation is conducted by SLS hap-penning electrodes finished from materials such as nickel alloy, brass, copper alloy (including bronze and nickel) and alloy steel, for the fragmentation of compact substances. In the assessment of EDM presentation, metrics such as substantial deposition rate (Vw) and wear rate (θ) are considered. Vw, indicating the volume of material extracted from the section per unit of time, is typically measured in cubic meters per second. θ, demonstrating the affiliation between the amount of electrode wear and the proportion of substantial withdrawal, is also evaluated. Comparative studies are undertaken between electrodes produced via SLS and those manufactured using conventional methods, particularly concerning materials such as SS316L. Through these studies, the efficacy and efficiency of SLS-produced electrodes in EDM processes are assessed in comparison to traditional electrode manufacturing methods. The ad-ancients in EDM technology and the optimisation of manufacturing processes for various applications are thus facilitated by such investigations.
