A MCDM based Approach for Selection of the Most Suitable Alternative Fuel for IC Engines
Main Article Content
Abstract
Alternative energy sources like wind, solar and nuclear power face challenges like rising costs, limited mobility, inefficiency, storage constraints and environmental consequences, making them sometimes insufficient or impractical. Given the limited availability of fossil fuels and the upcoming regulations on emissions, there is a growing fascination with utilising renewable biofuels for Compression Ignition engines. Liquid biofuels have become viable alternatives to fossil fuels for Internal Combustion (IC) engines. This study focuses on the selection of the best alternative fuel. The most suitable fuel is determined with the help of Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approaches. An evaluation of criteria weight is conducted using the Fuzzy AHP method, while the ranking of alternatives is determined through the application of TOPSIS and M-TOPSIS methods. An analysis was performed on the results within this paper to assess the stability of the outcome. Based on the findings, it is evident that the alternative M20 emerges as the most suitable fuel for this study, as it has obtained the top ranking according to the MCDM methods.
