Abstract

In the present work, wet and dry machining was carried out on aluminium 6061 alloys using dry and semi-synthetic oil, soluble cutting oil under various cutting conditions and its influence on cutting tool wear/life, surface finish, chip form, cutting temperature and workpiece material properties were investigated. CNMG 12 04 08 H13A cutting tip was used during experimentation and concluded which cutting parameters and cutting oils will give optimum tool life and surface finish through a reduction in tool wear with reduced cutting temperature desirable at the tool and workpiece interface.
