Exploring Multi-Modal Trust based Security Mechanisms for Autonomous Vehicles

Abstract
This research focuses on improving the security of autonomous vehicles (AVs) via trust-based approaches involving many operation modes. Given the swift progress of AV technology, it is crucial to implement strong security measures to protect passengers and infrastructure from possible threats. This work is unique because it introduces and investigates trust mechanisms that use many modes of information, including sensor data, communication signals and historical behavior patterns. These mechanisms evaluate the dependability of AV operations and identify any malicious behaviors. The proposed approach is proven effective through extensive experimentation, demonstrating improved capabilities in detecting threats and increased resilience against cyber-attacks. The experimental results highlight the effectiveness of trust-based security solutions that utilize several modes of operation to enhance the safety and reliability of autonomous driving systems. This, in turn, promotes the wider acceptance and use of AV technology.
