Abstract

A unique brake assist non-solenoid mechanical actuator is developed to improve motorist security and passenger comfort in both motionless as well as dynamic situations. For the past couple of decades, electronic integrated mechanical actuator concepts have been used for brake assist systems in hill hold and hill start assistants in the automotive industry. The electronic brake assist technology has more safety and ease when compared to the traditional manual braking system. The existing solenoid-based hill start technology functions at a minimum interval operating time that results in unsafe conditions in some situations. So, this study describes the separate electric-operated non-solenoid brake-assisting technique that has been integrated with the mechanical actuator. The performance analysis of the proposed braking system has been conducted and evaluated with the respective tool of MATLAB. The developed model was found to satisfy IS11852 standards.
